Gift Aid and Your Donations
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) allows charities to claim an extra 25% on the sale of donated goods through the Gift Aid scheme. https://www.gov.uk/claim-gift-aid
As long as an organisation can satisfy HMRC’s criteria and be able to show a clear audit trail - from the point of donation through to re-sale - we can receive an extra 25p for every £1 of donated goods that we sell.
Gift Aid does not cost you anything.
How do I sign up?
If you are a UK Taxpayer* then ask us about Gift Aid next time you pop into the shop and fill in a form or you can collect a form with a driver.
You only need to sign up to retail Gift Aid once to enable your donations to go further each time you donate items.
Thank you for your support.
* To be eligible for Gift Aid, you need to be a UK taxpayer and pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax for each year (6 April to 5 April) that is at least equivalent to the tax that all charities or Community Amateur Sports Clubs that you donate to will reclaim on your gifts for that tax year (currently 25p for every £1 given). Please note that other taxes such as VAT and Council Tax do not qualify.
